TASK

UI/UX design

Using Amnesty International data to create a interactive site reporting what happened in Raqqa, Syriah between June to October 2017.

Through a broad range of reports, documentation, videos, photos and satellite images from previous missions in Raqqa, the complexity of the experience remains to make this library digestible for the user. An interactive map of Raqqa leads the experience. Air strikes and incidents are located on the map according to the timeline. Icons “stories” displayed on the map too, open interviews and videos of the witnesses/survivors.

The user can use this experience in two modes: A “story” mode where the map autoplays and shows the destruction of Raqqa city within the timeline, or a “discovery” mode where the user is taking the lead, interacts, and dig into the collection of datas.
